Celebrate Day of the Dead in downtown DeKalb

DeKALB – Walk around downtown DeKalb to celebrate the passing of your ancestors at the Day of the Dead celebration on Nov. 4.

The family event hosted by Create Health Mobility Clinic will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Guests can expect live entertainment with food and drink available for purchase at local restaurants.

The DeKalb Public Library will be hosting a welcome ceremony to begin the event followed by a procession ending in the downtown for Day of the Dead activities.

Arts and crafts sessions will be offered throughout the event where guests can learn how to make paper flowers and decorate sugar skulls.

Traditional ofrendas are open for public viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the DeKalb Public Library. An art gallery will be located at La Calle from 2 to 5:30 p.m. with art available for purchase.

Guests can shop at vendor booths from 1 to 5 p.m. located in the upstairs banquet room at El Jimador.
