With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, students may be figuring out plans, whether with their partner or their friends.
NIU students provided their thoughts on the best date spot and their plans for Valentine’s Day.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day, Huskies?
Jack Oakes, a junior visual communication major, likes to take night drives.
Q: “Do you have Valentine’s Day plans?”
A: “Me, myself, I do not have Valentine’s Day plans. Hopefully, we can figure that out though. We just learned in our class that asking somebody on a date is an entrepreneurial thing that you can do. He referenced it to his business experience. So, I guess that was great to hear from that guest speaker today because maybe it’ll make me more encouraged to pursue a date for Valentine’s Day.”
Q: “Where is the best date spot in your opinion?”
A: “I think it’s probably just taking a night drive. That’s what I like to do personally, it’s pretty chill. It gives you an opportunity to speak with them or just listen to music. It can get awkward sometimes, but that’s when you just turn up the tunes and it’s all good.”
Jerik Alcasid, a junior visual communication major, is going to Chicago with his girlfriend this Valentine’s Day.
Q: “Do you have Valentine’s Day plans?”
A: “I believe my girlfriend and I are going to be going to Chicago, spend a night there and maybe go to our favorite Korean barbecue place, Mr. Kimchi! Delicious. Amazing sauces.”
Q: “Where is the best date spot in your opinion?”
A: “I would say, I’m a very personal person, so I would definitely say the best date spot would be depending on where you guys make the most memorable moments, whether it could be going out for a drive or just staying in and watching a movie.”
Hamzah Subhani, a junior visual communication major, likes more introverted activities.
Q: “Do you have Valentine’s Day plans?”
A: “No we don’t but probably just going to plan something in the future.”
Q: “What is the best date spot in your opinion?
A: “Well, I’m more of an introvert, so probably more introverted activities, like going out somewhere. Probably, like, going to the park or something. I’m not really, like, a go out to eat at dinner type of guy. So, something more introverted for sure.”
Riley Day, a junior visual communication major, is going to Texas Roadhouse on Thursday.
Q: “Do you have Valentine’s Day plans?”
A: “I have plans with my boyfriend the night before Valentine’s Day because he’s on the NIU hockey team and they have a game on Friday, but we will be going out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, and then probably just staying in and playing games for the rest of the night.”
Q: “What is the best date spot in your opinion?”
A: “I like El Jimador for, like, if I’m going out to eat somewhere. But, I really enjoy going on walks with my boyfriend. He has a pitbull, so we like to take him out and run around with him because he’s pretty crazy. But yeah, I like going around the lagoon on campus. That’s one of my favorite spots.”
