NIU Student Affairs vice president ‘satisfied’

Chicago State University needs a vice president for Student Affairs, but the person who holds that positio at NIU is not interested.

“I’m very satisfied here at NIU,” said Barbara Henley, NIU’s vice president for Student Affairs.

enley was employed about nine years at SCU in such positions as associate professor of Conseling, actin dean for Student Development, counseling center supervisor an special srvices program director. Henley received her doctorate in Counselor Educatin from Ohio State University.

“I came here (to NIU) for a new and different educational environment,” Henley said. “I will be supporting friends and colleagues for the position,” she said.

Henley, now a DeKalb resident, has been at NIU since 1987. She served as the assistant vice president for Student Affairs from May 1987 until she became the associate vice president in July, 1988.

After the department of former Vice President John Dalton, Henley became the acting vice president for Student Affairs in August, 1989. Her position became permanent in spring 1990.
