DeKALB | House regulars I, The Martian are playing at the reopening of The House, 263 E. Lincoln Highway, with new members and a set filled with a mixture of covers and original songs.

The band is playing its set Sunday after the band Lever.

The Northern Star got in a few questions with Jose Gomez, lead singer and guitarist, before he takes the stage with his band on Sunday, since the establishment’s several month-long closing, to understand I, The Martian’s excitement to be back at the House stage.

Q: What songs are in the setlist?

A: The setlist will include a couple of covers of Arctic Monkey’s songs and the rest will be original songs from our first album titled, “Luna 3.”

Q: What is the band’s particular style?

A: We play alternative rock.

Q: Explain the general excitement that the band has for The House Cafe.

A: Everyone in the band has grown up playing at The House Cafe. It’s great to be invited to help open it back up.

Q: How long has the band been together?

A: We’ve been together for three years. The other two members are Scott Chesser, who plays bass, and Lionel Morales who is the drummer. We’re regulars at the House [and] we probably play there around ten times a year. We actually helped open up the House the last time it closed down as well.
