Sia gets dark in album

By Morgan Carrigan

“This Is Acting,” the new album by Sia, offers a darker sound than her previous more lively work.

The artist’s seventh album, released Thursday, is paired with meaningful and honest lyrics about identity, love and life.

The album seems to be darker in comparison to her last album “1000 Forms Of Fear,” but it is similar to her other popular tracks.

Her voice is beautiful and her talent is undeniable. Sia has a way of performing that is almost flawless; her vocals are so strong throughout the entire album.

“Reaper” is my favorite track on the album. Her singing voice is incredible, catchy and motivating. This track is a contrast to the chilling style this album exudes, its melancholy sound similar to Lana Del Rey.

“Move Your Body,” rumored to be written for Shakira, is one of my least favorites on the track. It’s a bit too upbeat and doesn’t seem to fit the typical Sia sound.

Interestingly enough, all 12 songs on the album were written by Sia for other artists.

“This is Acting” really shows Sia’s talent through solid and put together tracks. I wouldn’t give it an album of the year award, but it does deserve some recognition.
