Senior Nelle Youel suffered her first loss of 2015 as women’s tennis was upset by a struggling Eastern Michigan team over the weekend.

The Huskies (11-5, 2-2 MAC) lost to the Eastern Michigan Eagles (6-12, 2-3 MAC), 5-2, Sunday in Ypsilanti, Mich. NIU won only two singles matches and lost the doubles point, 2-1.

Youel improved to 16-0 in singles matches with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles. Her undefeated campaign with doubles partner Cristina Alvarez came to an end at 10-1 with a 6-1 loss at No. 1 doubles. Youel remains one doubles win away from sole possession of the program’s career doubles wins record.

The Huskies remain winless against the Eagles since 2010 with the loss Sunday.
