DeKalb | This summer’s fashion trends will keep you casual, cool and always looking beach-ready.

White was big last summer, with all-white ensembles taking us for a walk down a Backstreet Boys-filled memory lane. And it’s not going away this summer. This time, beachy whites will be accompanied by soft indigo blues and tropical-inspired patterns.

White

The cool white clothing and accessory trend is only getting started, as beach whites start to take over our favorite stores. Instead of just pure white, be prepared to incorporate cream and eggshell whites into your wardrobe. These pieces will come in a number of beachy textures, including soft linen pants, sheer cotton button-downs and dresses, and crochet tops and sweaters.

Tropical-inspired prints

One of the best things about summer is getting creative with color; but this summer patterns will do the talking. Beach-inspired prints will cover this year’s surfer-inspired swimwear with tropical colors like coral, turquoise and ocean blue. Even subtle patterns will make their way into button-downs, shorts and more dressy styles.

Indigo blues

Maybe it’s that nautical trend that blossomed in 2010 and never went away, but white and blues go together perfectly. And this year is all about dark blues, with indigo replacing previous years’ navy. This color is soft, sophisticated and can be incorporated into any outfit, whether you’re rocking those tropical prints or keeping it cool in soft whites. Expect to see lots of this timeless hue of blue in every piece of your wardrobe, from clothing to shoes to jewelry and accessories.
