NIU is looking for volunteers to help introduce high school seniors to the university, according to NIU Today.

The admissions office is inviting people from the university community to assist with Discover NIU Day. The event, which is invitation only, is directed at seniors enrolled in high schools in nearby areas, according to NIU Today.

The event’s purpose is to show high school seniors they can live relatively close to home and still attend NIU, according to NIU Today. The event will include a welcome presentations, Q&A sessions with current NIU students and information fairs held by social and academic organizations. Select NIU faculty members will also teach a model class for attendees.

According to NIU Today, Stephanie Poulos, event organizer and assistant director of admissions, said this event is like a selective open house that will show NIU’s commitment to keeping students rooted in the DeKalb area.
