City blotter for 4/10/12

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Saturday

At 4:09 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol ran a registration check on a vehicle in the 1200 block of West Hillcrest Drive and found the registration was expired since Feb. 2012. The officer initiated a traffic stop and informed the driver, Jonnetta L. Lyons, 20, of Chicago, that her registration was expired. The officer also found Lyons’ driver’s license was suspended. Lyons was unable to find her insurance as well. Lyons was arrested, booked and later released on bond.

Sunday

At 2:27 a.m., DeKalb police responded to a residence in the 600 block of North Tenth Street in reference to disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, police spoke with the suspect, Paulino Rios, 50, of DeKalb, who said a male hit him in the head with a bottle. Witnesses told officers it was an accident. Police advised Rios a report would be taken. While leaving the scene, dispatch advised police that Rios was calling 911 again. The officers went to speak with Rios and told him not to call 911 again or he would be arrested. Several minutes later, dispatch advised police Rios was calling 911 again. Rios was arrested and charged with making a false 911 report.

Monday

At 1:49 a.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a black 2004 Chevy Trailblazer traveling westbound in the 1400 block of Pleasant Street without a rear registration light on. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver, Jose NMI Sangabriel, 30, of DeKalb, told the officer he did not have a valid license. Sangabriel was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Department. Sangabriel was unable to post bond and was taken to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to await a bond hearing.
