Sebenste: DeKalb to experience calmer weather this week

By Olivia Willoughby

Despite the wind DeKalb has received in the past few days, Mother Nature is finally cooling her jets.

Staff Meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste said this week is going to be much calmer.

“It’s going to be a pretty boring week,” he said. “There will be scattered showers on Wednesday and a good soaking rain on Thursday. It’s going to be quieter around here for a change.”

The winds so far have been up around 40 to 50 mph, Sebenste said. But he said they died out last night, so residents do not need to worry about any broken or inside-out umbrellas.

Later in the week will be wetter with Wednesday and Thursday’s rain.

“Wednesday’s rain will be light,” Sebenste said. “The best chance of rain will be on Thursday, when we can get half to an inch of rain.”

Due to the quiet week ahead, Sebenste said there will be no severe weather. He also said as DeKalb moves toward the weekend, the weather will get drier and much chillier.
