City blotter for 4/2/12

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Thursday

At 9:13 p.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic problem on Barber Greene Road. While en route to the call, deputies noticed a vehicle swerving. The driver, Tanya Murulewski, 33, of Cortland was arrested for driving under the influence and improper lane usage. Murulewski was later transported to the hospital for non-related health issues, served a notice to appear and released at the hospital.

Friday

At 11:38 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a black Toyota traveling northbound and approaching the stop sign at West Hillcrest. The officer observed both of the Toyota’s front tires stop over the stop line. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 800 block of Normal Road and learned the driver, Donald Vaval, 29, of DeKalb, had a suspended driver’s license and two failure to appear warrants. Vaval was arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond. Vaval was given a verbal warning for disobeying the stop sign.

Saturday

At 4:01 a.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer observed the vehicle fail to signal while changing lanes and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Timothy I. Villeroz, 20, of Chicago, was charged with zero tolerance, failure to signal, speeding and consumption.
