City blotter for 3/29/12

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Monday

At 4:40 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving west in the 100 block of Oak Street. The officer knew the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and initiated a traffic stop. The officer ran the driver’s license and found the driver had an active warrant. The driver, Monwell D. Booth, 31, of DeKalb, was arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Jail pending bond.

Tuesday

At 11:39 a.m., a DeKalb police officer responded to an apartment in the 800 block of Russel Road for an anonymous report of criminal trespassing. Upon arrival, the officer located the suspect, Demetric D. Starling, 25, of DeKalb. Starling was found to be in possession of cannabis, arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.

At 5:41 p.m., DeKalb police were dispatched to Schnucks to investigate a retail theft. Upon arrival, police met with the loss prevention officer who stated he observed several subjects select various bottles of liquor in the liquor section. One of the suspects walked down the aisle where another suspect, later identified as Henry A. Robinson Jr., 21, of DeKalb, placed three bottles of liquor in a back pack strapped to his chest, under his jacket. Robinson Jr.’s sister, Andrea M. Robinson, 19, of DeKalb, admitted to planning the theft. Both suspects were charged with retail theft, arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
