City blotter for 3/26/12

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Friday

At 9:44 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a driver not wearing a seatbelt in the 1000 block of West Hillcrest Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Alice F. Ragsdale, 43, of DeKalb, said her driver’s license was suspended, did not have insurance and admitted to not wearing a seat belt. Ragsdale was arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.

Saturday

At 3:18 a.m., DeKalb police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Fotis Drive for disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, the suspect, Kevin M. Wilson, 20, of DeKalb, was charged with two counts of domestic battery and consumption of alcoholic liquor. Wilson was arrested and taken to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Sunday

At 1:35 a.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through the downtown area. The officer observed a vehicle cross the center line several times. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the driver, Andrew J. Gottwald, 20, of Midlothian, admitted to consuming one beer and one shot prior to the traffic stop. Gottwald failed field sobriety tests and blew a 0.175. Gottwald was arrested for driving under the influence.

At 2:23 a.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a driver slumped over the driver’s wheel, parked on the west side of the 1100 block of Normal Road. The driver, Juan F. Barragon, 18, of DeKalb, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving under the influence.
