City blotter for 2/1/12

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sunday

At 8:07 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol in the 800 block of Greenbrier Road observed a green 1997 Pontiac driving eastbound without headlights on. The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered the driver, Lashawna M. McWright, 21, of DeKalb, was driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. McWright was charged with driving without headlights on when required, driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

At 10:25 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the 1800 block of South Peace Road. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned the driver, Sebastian S. Brown, 33, of Montgomery, was driving with a suspended license. Brown was also charged with disobeying a traffic control device. Brown was cited and released.

Monday

At 4:00 p.m., Lauryn C. Nash, 21, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with forgery following an investigation that began on Jan. 12. The victim alleged that Nash took a check belonging to her to use toward a security deposit on an apartment. Police also discovered an outstanding failure to appear warrant for retail theft. Nash was transported to the DeKalb County Jail where was held awaiting bond.

At 9:30 p.m., a DeKalb County deputy initiated a traffic stop for traffic violations at West Dresser Road and North First Street. While at the stop, the deputy learned that the passenger, Howard E. Langston Jr., 20, of DeKalb, was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear on a liquor violation. Langston was taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

At 10:06 p.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a red truck start its engine near businesses that were closed and had no headlights on. When the officer ran a registration check on the vehicle, the officer discovered the vehicle was identified as a blue truck, not a red truck. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver, Juan Robles, 42, of Aurora, said he had just purchased the vehicle. Robles told the officer he did not have a license. Robles was arrested, transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.

Tuesday

At 12:15 a.m., a DeKalb police officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 1100 block of East Lincoln Highway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver, Kevin J. Bailey, 18, of Bolingbrook, was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Bailey was arrested and charged with speeding and driving with a suspended driver’s license. Bailey was transported to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
