Commission approves projects

The DeKalb Plan Commission approved the final plan for Mason Townhouses Suites, located at The Knolls at Prairie Creek, at its meeting Wednesday.

Principal Planner Russ Farnum said the only minor issue with the plan is the landscaping plan has not been approved yet.

He said the landscaping plan currently is being developed, and the community development department would look it over next week.

The three plan commission members present unanimously approved the plan as long as certain conditions are met: The Annie Glidden Road access will be finalized before building, street names will be changed and engineering details will be adjusted.

The commission also approved the final plan for Unit 2 of the Summit Enclave, located southwest of Greenwood Acres Drive and the east end of East Dresser Road.

It will allow construction of 138 units, which will consist of a mix of two-family units, townhomes and “court home” units, which will be sold as condominiums.

There also was a public hearing for a special-use permit for single-family attached units on property zoned as multiple-family residential.

The permit would be used for lots one, two and three in the South Pointe commercial subdivision.

No one spoke about this issue during the public hearing.

Community Development Director Paul Rasmussen invited commission members to attend the city council workshop Monday.

Discussion about three possible new grocery stores will take place.

“It will be an interesting workshop,” Rasmussen said.
