Monday 

  • Labor Day: The university is closed in observance of Labor Day. 
  • Huskie Pulse Survey: NIU is releasing a questionnaire for students to take and provide feedback regarding their experience at this point in the semester. Contact Brandon Lagana at 815-201-2802 for more information. 
  • Huskie Pride Corn Maze at Jonamac Orchard: Jonamac Orchard, 19412 Shabbona Road. Malta, is celebrating NIU’s 125th Anniversary with a 10-acre corn maze through Oct. 31. The Day Time Maze fee is included in general admission pricing of $5 per person. The Corn Maze Flashlight Night will take place Saturdays in September; the corn maze and cider house will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Last entry to the Corn Maze is 8:30 p.m.Visit the Jonamac Orchard website for more information. 
  • Labor Day Lagoon Play Days with Outdoor Adventures: Outdoor Adventures will host a Labor Day Play Day with gear rentals from 1 to 4 p.m at the East Lagoon. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and paddles will be available for rent which is $5 for students and $10 for non-students. Hourly sport rentals for bags, ladder golf, spike ball, giant Jenga, hammock, football or soccer ball will be available $2 for students and $3 for non-students. Tuesday 

  • NIU School of Art and Design Faculty Biennial Continuum: The NIU Art Museum will host the Faculty Biennial Continuum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Art Museum located on the first floor of Altgeld Hall. The exhibit will feature artwork from faculty and teaching staff from the School of Art and Design. Contact the NIU Art Museum at [email protected] for more information. 
  • Resume Workshop: Career Services is hosting a resume workshop from 2 to 2:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. A Career Services staff member will share resume resources, provide a checklist and answer questions. Registration is not required.   • Off-Campus Events Policy Training: Off-Campus Events Policy Training will take place at 4:30 p.m. for student organizations. This training is required if student organizations want to host off-campus events; the training will count towards the 50% completion requirement for each organization.   • Goal Setting for Success: ACCESS and the University Center will be hosting a goal setting event teaching SMART goal tactics via Blackboard Collaborate from 6 to 7 p.m. Contact Lynn Schmitz at [email protected] for more information.

  • Social Justice Town Hall – The Power of Your Vote: A town virtual town hall will take place discussing civil engagement, voter suppression and how to combat voter suppression from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Register for the event through this survey.   • Huskie Link Overview: The Organization and Student Involvement Suite is hosting a Microsoft Teams meeting to discuss the basics of Huskie Link and answer questions at 3 p.m. Contact Alex Pitner at [email protected] for more information. 
  • JobsPLUS Event – Community Leadership Series – Amy Doll: Amy Doll, DeKalb Park District executive director, will speak at a JobsPLUS event discussing best practice from business, education, non-profit and local government sectors from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Register for the event here to receive a link to the event.   • Sister Circle: The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center will host a Sister Circle to provide a space for women and nonbinary students from diverse backgrounds to talk, listen and exist amongst each other from 6 to 7 p.m. Contact Ariel Owens at [email protected] to receive the link to the event. 

Friday 

  • Last day: Friday is the last day for undergraduate students to change a full-semester course from credit to audit or from audit to credit or change a first-half-semester course from credit to audit or from audit to credit. 
  • Off-Campus Events Policy Training: Off-Campus Events Policy Training will take place at 10 a.m. for student organizations. This training is required if student organizations want to host off-campus events; the training will count towards the 50% completion requirement for each organization.
