Almost every Huskie finds themselves eating from a dining hall at some point during their college career, but students have mixed opinions about the food options available.
From chicken tenders to salad bars to soft serve and cookies, there are three main dining halls on campus, Neptune, Patterson and Stevenson, which students with a meal plan can swipe their OneCard to access.
What do current Huskies prefer to eat in the dining halls, and what would they like to see changed?
Alli Simmons, a junior communication studies major, really appreciates the dining hall’s hash browns. And come on, we all know Simmons has a good point there.
Q: “What’s your favorite meals or dishes served at the dining hall?”
A: “I really like the hash browns that they have. Pretty bomb, really good.”
Q: “And if you could change one thing about the dining halls, what would it be?”
A: “They could serve bigger portions of the hash browns!”
Nosa Enorense, a first-year computer science major, thinks the dining hall options and variety are fine, but breakfast could be improved.
Q: “Do you feel like there’s enough healthy choices available?”
A: “Yeah, I would say so. I mean they offer food, but it’s just not like stuff I would eat. But they do have, like, a salad bar, which is pretty cool.”
Q: “And if you could change one thing about the dining halls, what would it be?”
A: “More cereal options, cause like they used to have, like, Raisin Bran, and then they took it away, More breakfast options, I guess.
Carlos Corona, a first-year mechanical engineering major, enjoys the dining halls’ everyday items, but would encourage improvement to how new food items are displayed as well.
Q: “What’s your favorite meals or dishes served at the dining hall?”
A: “I guess it just be like a good pizza and fries.”
Q: “And if you could change one thing about the dining halls, what would it be?”
A: “Make an easier system to understand. For some days when they introduce new stuff I don’t even notice them until, like, I pass by it, and I’ve already eaten something.”
