DeKALB | A DeKalb man has been charged with breaking into two vehicles in the 1000 block of Spiros Court.

Jacob M. Minuth, 21, has been charged with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle. Stephanie Klein, DeKalb County assistant state’s attorney, said at the time of his arrest, Minuth was on probation for burglary.

According to DeKalb police reports, a caller reported a man going through his vehicle early Saturday morning. Police responded at 4:12 a.m. and learned that the caller and the suspect had a short conversation before the suspect departed from the property. A friend of the victim followed the man to his apartment and was able to direct police to Minuth’s residence.

DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said police located Minuth within his apartment, where he admitted to entering two vehicles parked in the 1000 block of Spiros Court. Spangler said police found two items taken from the cars: a set of bolt cutters and an elastic back support device.

Minuth was previously convicted of burglary on Sept. 1, 2010 and sentenced to 48 months probation.

Bond was set at $50,000 at a hearing Monday, and another status hearing is scheduled for today.
