DeKALB – Two consecutive double-double performances from senior forward A’Jah Davis helped secure her first career Northern Star Huskie of the Week award.

In a loss to Ball State University on Feb. 1, Davis posted 12 points and 13 rebounds. She was the second leading scorer in the game, as graduate student guard Janae Poisson took over the scoring role with 19 points. Davis’ strong performance came one week after suffering a leg injury against Kent State University on Jan. 25.

Davis dominated against the University at Buffalo Bulls, scoring 18 points and tying a career-high in rebounds with 21. Davis’ monster game was also an efficient one, as she shot 8-10 from the field en route to a 72-62 victory over Buffalo.

The Huskies snapped their five-game losing streak and improved to 11-10 with the victory over Buffalo.

The DeKalb native currently leads the Huskies in total rebounds and is second in total points during the 2022-2023 season.

NIU women’s basketball will face The University of Akron next at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in DeKalb at the Convocation Center.

Next week’s Huskie of the Week will be announced on Feb. 13.

The Northern Star Huskie of the Week is voted for on a weekly basis. Student-athletes considered for this week’s edition were chosen based on their performance in competitions taking place from Jan. 23 to Jan. 29.
