Men’s golf in last after first round

After day one of the Erin Hills Intercollegiate the men’s golf team sits in last place of 14 teams.

The Huskies shot 314 after their first round, 34 strokes more than No. 8 Stanford, which leads the tournament. No. 3 UCLA and No. 22 SMU are tied in second with a 286.

Out of 81 players, there is a three-way tie for first place with Marquette’s Zach Gaugert, SMU’s Harry Higgs and Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers shot a 68 on day one.

Liam White leads the Huskies after shooting a 75, a score that was good enough to land him tied for 45th place out of 81 players.

Caulen Coe leads the NIU freshmen, shooting a 79, and is tied for 67th. Huskies Jake Curwin, Pierrick Fillon and Shawn Foley are all tied for 71st after shooting an 80.
