TV shows are great for more than just mindless binge watching. Television gives us couples to look up to and envy the relationships they have on screen.

Valentine’s Day is closing in and what better way to celebrate than to look at a few of the best on-screen couples. A TV romance between beloved characters can change the viewer’s perspective on the show completely, but these characters were meant to be. From the early ‘90s to now, onscreen romance can last a lifetime if portrayed correctly.

Chandler & Monica Bing – “Friends”

One of the most unexpected relationships in “Friends” was the hook-up between Monica Geller and Chandler Bing. The two’s relationship spans far prior to when the series began, but their relationship never seemed more than that until the season 4 finale of the show, where the two hook-up in England at Ross’s wedding.

From there the relationship grew and never stopped and I didn’t want it to. Chandler and Monica’s love for each other became more evident throughout the series and each heartfelt moment brought a special touch to the series. The witty chandler and clean obsessed Monica couldn’t be a better match for each other.

Jim & Pam Halpert – “The Office”

From the beginning of this 2005 TV series, it was clear that Jim Halpert was in love with secretary Pam Beesly. Once her terrible on-again-off-again fiancee was out of her life, viewers were able to watch their love story develop.

Each stage was better than the next. One couldn’t help but find themselves dreaming that they would be so in love that being proposed to at a gas station wouldn’t bother them at all.

The creators never should’ve messed with Jim and Pam’s storyline near the end of the show, however, they couldn’t erase the love all Office fans came to see over the series nine seasons.

Derek Shepherd & Meredith Grey – “Grey’s Anatomy”

If you have even watched the first 10 minutes of the pilot of this never-ending TV drama, you know who Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey are. These were the first two characters the audience met and the ones you never wanted to stop seeing. Their love was complicated and at times seemed vanilla, but through all the very dramatized events that they endured over their 11 season relationship, the two always were a dream couple. Seven seasons after Derek was killed in a tragic accident, you can still see and feel the love the couple had for each other.
